While LXCouncil is highly beneficial for most business owners and business leaders, we do uphold criteria of professional and personal credentials for members and moderators in the council and expect that each member be courteous, respectful, confidential, and and forthcoming. Many businessmen and women simply do not fit the model for our councils.
Before inquiring about joining an LXCouncil group, ask yourself if you currently have any of the following 6 personality traits. If you do, there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s simply that a peer advisory group is likely not a good fit for you.
- You Lack Commitment.
Members of our peer councils are committed to facing the shortcomings of their business, even if they are part of the problem. If you are not committed to solving these issues, then our groups are definitely not for you.
- You have difficulty facing shortcomings.
There is a certain sense of relief that comes from admitting that you are wrong or that you do not know all of the answers. In our peer councils, you are provided with a safe space to come to terms with these hard truths. If that makes you uncomfortable, then our groups are not for you.
- You are unwilling to change.
Peer Advisory councils may point out some unflattering facts about your management style, but – above all – you must be willing to change. Whatever needs to be done, you must be willing to do it for the success of your business. If you are unwilling to do that, then our boards are not for you.
- You won’t prioritize it.
LXCouncil members are expected to be in attendance and engaged during the half day meetings. Being present is important as everyone counts on each other to be there for each other. If you are not able to make the peer advisory council a priority, then it’s definitely not for you.
- You don’t listen well.
Listening is critical to understanding each member’s true issue, concern or opportunity for which they are asking feedback. First seek to understand and then be understood. If you are the type that jumps to conclusion or isn’t interested in what others are saying, then this is most certainly not for you.
- You are more interested in networking for business vs. growing personally and growing the business.
This is not a networking organization, nor is it based on referrals for your business. If you are interested in joining for business development reasons vs. improving and learning, then this is not for you.
If these six statement don’t sound like you at all, then LXCouncil might be a great fit for you and your business! We encourage you learn more about the benefits and requirements of LXCouncil here.
